Don't judge a musician by their cover band

Conventional wisdom has always held that artists who play in tribute bands are pitiful creatures who washed out at being original musicians. But ask most any tribute band player and they'll tell you the opposite; that they feel sorry for original artists, who often struggle to fill tiny clubs, while even midlevel cover bands easily book corporate gigs, cruise ship stints and overseas appearances.
